Man rushed to hospital after suffering serious head and spinal injuries on Scots street

A man has been rushed to hospital after being found seriously injured on a Scots street.

Emergency services rushed to Lochside Road, Ayr, around 10.30am on Wednesday after the 39-year-old man was found lying on the residential street severely injured.

He currently remains in hospital receiving treatment for serious head and spinal injuries.

Police have launched a probe into the incident and are urging anyone with information to come forward as enquiries are ongoing to establish how he came to suffer such injuries.

It is understood detectives are still trying to establish if any criminality has taken place and are treating the man's injured as unexplained for now.

Officers have carried out door-to-door enquiries and are reviewing available CCTV footage.

Anyone who was in the Lochside Road area between 6.30am and 10.30am on Wednesday morning is being urged to contact police.

The man was wearing blue shorts, blue trainers, a t-shirt and black puffer-style jacket, a black baseball cap and dark rimmed glasses.

Detective Sergeant Craig Semple from Ayr Police Station said: “This man was found with very serious injuries and we are investigating how he came to sustain these.

“He was found outside a property on Lochside Road, near to the junction with Lawson Street.

"I’d ask anyone who was in this area and who saw the man, or has information on how he came to sustain his injuries, to contact police as soon as possible to help our investigation.”

Anyone with information should contact Police Scotland on 101 and quote incident number 0901 of 22 September 2021.
