Man rushed to hospital after 'stabbing' in Glasgow's east end as cops launch probe

A man has been rushed to hospital with serious injuries after being "stabbed" in Glasgow's east end. The attack took place around 12.45pm yesterday in the Bridgeton area of the city.

Emergency services, including Police Scotland and Scottish Ambulance Service, raced to the scene after receiving reports of a 49-year-old man having been "stabbed" at Bridgeton Cross.

He was taken to Queen Elizabeth University Hospital for treatment. Medical staff describe his condition as serious but stable.

Cops have now launched a probe into the incident, and say that although the investigation is at an early stage, they want to hear from anyone with any information on the event.

Detective Constable Sarah Steven, of Shettleston CID, said: "Enquiries are at an early stage to establish exactly what has happened and I am appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the assault, or noticed anything suspicious, to contact us.

"A man sustained serious injuries as a result of this incident and it is vital we trace whoever is responsible. Anyone with information should contact Police Scotland via 101 quoting incident number 1398 of Tuesday, 2 August, 2022.

"Alternatively, calls can be made anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111."
