Man rushed to hospital after ‘stabbing’ in Glasgow as cops make arrest

A man has been rushed to hospital after being 'stabbed' on a street in Glasgow, sparking a major response.

The alarm was raised around 2.30pm on Wednesday, October 26 when officers were alerted to reports of an assault having taken place on Shaw Street in Govan.

Emergency services, including Police Scotland and Scottish Ambulance Service, swooped on the scene and a 49-year-old man was taken to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital for treatment.

The extent of his injuries is unclear, but it has been confirmed that he has been released from hospital.

Photos taken at the time showed the street completely sealed off, with cop cars parked outside a row of shops and uniformed officers standing guard.

A probe was launched following the incident, and a 34-year-old man has now been arrested in connection. Enquiries are continuing to establish exactly what happened.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Around 2.30pm on Wednesday, 26 October, 2022, police were made aware a 49-year-old man had been assaulted in Shaw Street, Glasgow.

"Officers attended and a man was taken to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital. Officers have arrested a 34-year-old man and enquiries are ongoing."
