Man rushed to hospital after stabbing at East Didsbury Metrolink stop

A man has been taken to hospital after reports of a stabbing at a Metrolink stop this evening.

A huge section of East Didsbury Metrolink station has been cordoned off tonight following the attack, which happened just after 7.30pm.

Police say the victim is currently in hospital. It is not known at this stage how seriously injured he is, or whether any arrests have been made.

In a brief statement issued tonight, GMP said: "At around 7.35pm on Friday (August 27), police were called to a report of a stabbing at East Didsbury Metrolink Stop.

"Officers attended and established that a male had sustained injuries and was subsequently taken to hospital."

Photos from East Didsbury tonight show a number of police and forensic officers in attendance examining the scene.

There is no service on the Metrolink line between East Didsbury and West Didsbury due to the incident.
