Man rushed to hospital after stabbing

A man has been taken to hospital after being stabbed in Salford.

The stabbing happened in Great Cheetham Street East at around 8.45pm on Friday.

A large number of police vehicles and an ambulance crew were sent to the scene.

Police say a man in his 40s was taken to hospital with a stab wound, where he remains in a non-life-threatening condition.

A large police cordon was put in place around Symons Street, Gainsborough Street and Great Cheetham Street East.

A 20-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of Section 18 assault, also referred to as grievous bodily harm.

He remains in custody for questioning.

Anyone with information should contact police on 101, quoting incident number 3347 of 14/08/20.
