Man rushed to hospital after serious attack in Rutherglen

A man was rushed to hospital after being seriously assaulted yesterday afternoon.

The incident happened on Farie Street in Rutherglen just before 4.30pm and resulted in the street, and nearby Cathcart Road, being cordoned off as cops investigated the attack.

The 49-year-old victim was then taken to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital for treatment to his injuries. His current condition is unknown.

Police confirmed they are investigating the incident.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “At around 4.25pm on Thursday, we received a report that a 49-year-old man had been seriously assaulted near to Farie Street.

“He was taken to Queen Elizabeth University Hospital for treatment by the Scottish Ambulance Service.

“Enquiries to establish the circumstances of the incident are ongoing.”
