Man rushed to hospital after serious assault as cops lock down Glasgow street

A man was rushed to hospital following a serious assault in Glasgow.

Emergency services raced to Moncur Street near the Barras Market after the alarm was raised at around 5.30pm on Sunday January 23.

A 52-year-old man was taken to Glasgow Royal Infirmary for treatment following the attack.

Police sealed off the area while they were undertaking enquiries.

An area was taped off while officers guarded the scene.

A passerby told the Record: "I was coming out of the pub when I saw all the commotion.

"There were a lot of police and they had officers had cordoned off an area at the Barras."

Officers say their enquiries are ongoing and they are appealing for information.

Detective Constable Jacqueline Harris said: “Officers were called to a report of a serious assault on Moncur Street, Glasgow around 5.30pm on Sunday, January 23.

A 52-year-old man was taken to Glasgow Royal Infirmary for treatment.

Enquiries are ongoing and anyone with information can call 101, quoting reference 2621 of January 23.”
