Man rushed to hospital after Saturday night assault on number 11 bus in Ayrshire

A man was rushed to hospital last night after being attacked on an Ayrshire bus.

The 57-year-old was assaulted on the number 11 service between Kilmarnock and Dreghorn.

Emergency services raced to Dreghorn last night and the man was taken to Crosshouse Hospital and released after treatment, police confirmed today.

Authorities say that enquiries into the attack are ongoing.

Stagecoach Tweeted last night that the 20.58 service would not operate and that police and ambulance were in attendance.

A Police Scotland spokeswoman said: “Around 9.10pm on Saturday, August 7, officers were called to a report that a 57-year-old man had been assaulted on a bus in Dreghorn.

"Officers attended and he was taken to Crosshouse Hospital and released after treatment. Police enquiries are ongoing into this assault."
