Man rushed to hospital after Radcliffe crash causes road closure and long delays

A man has been taken to hospital following a crash on a key road through Radcliffe.

The collision happened just before 1.20pm on Water Street, close to the junction with Spring Lane.

Paramedics and police officers rushed to the scene and witnesses reporter seeing someone being cut from a damaged vehicle.

Water Street was closed following the crash, creating long queues of traffic along Spring Lane and around the centre of Radcliffe.

Bus companies Diamond and Go North West have advised that services will be running slowly and on a diverted route between Bury and Radcliffe bus stations.

Diamond have warned of delays up to 15 minutes likely to continue until the road is reopened.

A spokesman for the North West Ambulance Service said they had treated a male patient at the scene, although the extent of their injuries is currently unknown.

They said: "We got called at 1.24pm to Water Street in Radcliffe. We sent two rapid response vehicles and a land ambulance to the scene.

"We have taken one patient to Salford Royal Hospital."
