Lorry overturns on Scots road as driver rushed to hospital

A man was rushed to hospital after his lorry overturned in a horror crash on a Scots road.

Emergency services raced to the A76 at Kirkconnel in Dumfries and Galloway after the alarm was raised at around 5pm on Thursday, July 29.

Ambulance crews attended and the male driver of the lorry was taken to Dumfries and Galloway Royal Infirmary for treatment.

The road was closed for several hours while the lorry was recovered.

Pictures taken from the scene show an ambulance in attendance while a police van blocks the road.

A blue lorry is seen lying on it's side in the middle of the road.

The extent of the driver's injuries is not yet known.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Around 5pm on Thursday, 29 July, police were called to a crash involving a lorry on the A76 at Kirkconnel.

"Emergency services attended and the male driver was taken to Dumfries and Galloway Royal Infirmary for treatment.

"The road was closed while the vehicle was recovered."
