Man rushed to hospital after deliberate blaze at Scots home 20 minutes after wilful fire nearby

A man was rushed to hospital after a deliberate blaze at a Scots home at the weekend.

Cops have launched a probe after a home on Arran Drive, Auchinleck, was set alight just 20 minutes after another wilful fire nearby.

Emergency services raced to a property on the street around 4.45am on Saturday, September 4.

One man was taken to Ayr Hopsita l for treatment following the blaze and was later released.

Just 20 minutes before this incident at 4.25am, a shed at a property on Church Street was set on fire.

Although there is nothing linking the incidents yet, police say enquiries remain ongoing and are treating both fires as wilful.

Detective Sergeant Sarah Holland said: “Thankfully no-one was seriously injured as a result of these incidents.

“There is nothing to suggest that these incidents are linked but enquiries are ongoing.

“I am appealing for anyone who was in the area at the time and saw anything suspicious to get in touch.

“I would also appeal for anyone with dashcam footage or CCTV to review it and get in touch if they believe they can assist

“There will be an increased police presence in the area and anyone with concerns are asked to report them to officers.”

Anyone with any information is asked to contact police on 101 quoting incident 0738 of 4 September.
