Man rushed to hospital after crash on the M8 brings West Lothian traffic to a standstill

A man has been rushed to hospital after a single vehicle crash on the M8 in West Lothian on Friday.

Emergency services, including the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service and ambulance crews, raced to junction two of the busy motorway this afternoon, near Livingston.

A man was taken to Edinburgh Royal Infirmary to be treated but his condition is currently unknown, reports Edinburgh Live.

Traffic Scotland said at the time there were delays of up to 40 minutes on the eastbound side of the carriageway. There were numerous social media reports of build-ups of traffic in the area, following the crash.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Around 3.55pm on Friday, April 14, police received a report of a one vehicle crash on the M8 Eastbound, just before junction 2 at Livingston, West Lothian.

"One man has been taken by ambulance to the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh. Enquiries are ongoing."
