A man was rushed to hospital following a crash at a busy Wirral junction this morning.
Police and paramedics were called to reports of a crash involving multiple vehicles at the junction of Borough Road and Whetstone Lane, in Birkenhead.
A police vehicle, one ambulance, a rapid response vehicle and one paramedic attended the scene of the incident.
The crash, which involved a Ford Focus and a Volkswagen Golf, occurred around 9.05am.
Eyewitnesses described seeing the two cars with the airbags deployed and damage to the front of one of the cars, leading to significant disruption to traffic.
The North West Ambulance Service confirmed that a man in his mid 30s was taken to hospital after the incident.
The ECHO understands that another person was treated at the scene by paramedics but was not taken to hospital.
Their conditions are not yet known.
A Merseyside Police spokesperson said: "At 9.05am were called to reports of a collision between two cars at the junction of Borough Road and Whetstone Lane in Birkenhead.
"The collision involved a Ford Focus and a Volkswagen Golf. One male has been taken to hospital."
Police said that there we "no indications of serious injury" and that both vehicles were currently being recovered.
A North West Ambulance Spokesperson said that two people had been treated at the scene by Ambulance staff but only one needed to be taken to hospital.
A spokesperson said: "At 9.08am we were called to reports of a crash at the junction of Whetstone Lane and Borough Road.
"One ambulance, one rapid response vehicle, and one paramedic were dispatched to the scene where two people were treated. They were both conscious and breathing.
"A man in his mid 30s has been taken to hospital."
