Man rushed to hospital after collision in Prestwich

A man has been taken to hospital after a collision in Prestwich.

Emergency services attended the scene on Bury New Road at around 7pm.

Specialist firefighters were also in attendance.

Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service confirmed one male casualty was taken to hospital by North West Ambulance Service.

Their condition or injuries currently aren't known.

The A56 Bury New Road was closed between Fairfax Road and Church Lane, close to the Railway and Naturalist pub, as a result.

The Manchester Evening News has contacted Greater Manchester Police for further comment and details.

A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service confirmed three fire appliances were at the scene.

It's understood the collision happened at the junction of Fairfax Road.

Images from the scene show a white van and a small 4x4 with a cordoned off area.

GMFRS said in a statement: "Just before 7pm today (November 2) firefighters were called to reports of a road traffic collision on Bury New Road, Prestwich.

"Two fire engines from Agecroft and Broughton fire stations along with the Technical Response Unit from Ashton quickly attended and worked to make the scene safe.

"One male casualty was conveyed to hospital by North West Ambulance Service.

"Fire crews have now left the scene and were in attendance for half an hour."
