Man rushed to hospital after car crash closes busy Scots road

A man has been rushed to hospital following a car crash which has closed a busy Scots road this afternoon.

Officers attended the scene of the crash in Newton Mearns on the outskirts of Glasgow just before 10am today.

As a result, the A77 Ayr Road is closed in both directions from Whitecraigs Station to Broomvale Drive.

The closure has also affected First Buses services running through the area.

The 38 service has been forced to divert via Eastwoodmains Rd, Busby Rd, Mearns Rd and Eaglesham Rd in both directions.

The extent of the man's injuries who was involved in the crash is not yet known.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Around 9.50am on Saturday, 19 February, officers were called to a report of a road crash involving one car on Ayr Road, Newton Mearns.

"A man has been taken to hospital following the crash."
