Man rushed to hospital after campervan bursts into flames in Oban

A man has been rushed to hospital after a campervan burst into flames in an Oban car park.

Fire crews rushed to Lochside Street at around 3.30pm after reports of the blaze.

Two Scottish Fire and Rescue Service appliances were deployed to tackle the fire, which spread to two nearby cars in the area.

Eyewitnesses reportedly heard explosions prior to the fire taking hold of the vehicle.

One man has been taken to hospital following the incident, but it remains unclear if anyone was inside the van at the time of the incident.

Firefighters left the scene after bringing the flames under control at around 4.30pm.

A spokesperson for Police Scotland said: “We were called to Lochside Street at around 3.35pm after a caravan caught fire.

“One man has been taken to hospital and enquiries remain ongoing.”
