Man rushed to hospital after brutal stabbing in Dublin city centre

A man was rushed to hospital after being stabbed in Dublin city centre.

The incident happened at around 7am on Monday on the north side of the city.

The victim, who is in his mid-20s, was found by gardai "slumped on the ground" on Cathal Brugha Street.

He was brought to the Mater Hospital for treatment.

A garda spokeswoman said: "Gardai in Store Street are investigating an incident of assault which occurred on Cathal Brugha Street this morning, March 30.

"On arrival at the scene Gardaí observed a male, aged in his mid 20s, slumped on the ground with a stab wound.

"Emergency services also attended the scene and the man was taken to the Mater Misericordiae University Hospital for treatment.

"Garda Forensic Investigators are currently at the scene. Investigations ongoing."
