Man rushed to hospital after blaze at Scots flat as cops launch fire probe

A man has been rushed to hospital after a flat fire in a Scot village last night.

Emergency services raced to Hillview Court in Ormiston, Tranent, just before 7pm on Wednesday evening to reports of a home on fire.

A 48-year-old man was taken by ambulance to the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh.

The extent of his injuries is not yet known.

Enquiries into how the blaze started are ongoing as cops try to establish to full circumstances.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 6.55pm on Wednesday, 25 August, officers were called to a report of a fire at a flat in Hillview Court, Main Street, Ormiston, Tranent.

"The fire was extinguished by Scottish Fire and Rescue Service.

“A 48-year-old man has been taken by Ambulance to the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh.

"Enquiries are ongoing into the exact circumstances.”
