Man rushed to hospital after bladed weapon attack in Blantyre

Police are appealing for witnesses after a man was seriously assaulted with a blade in Blantyre.

The incident happened around 6.35pm yesterday (Tuesday, September 10) near to Burnbrae Road.

A 37-year-old man was hit on the head with a bladed weapon by two men.

One man is described as wearing a dark green jacket, grey jogging bottoms, black trainers and a black balaclava.

The other suspect was seen heading off towards the Liberty Path area of Blantyre.

Police say the victim was taken to Hairmyres Hospital in a “serious but stable” condition.

Detective Constable Chris McLaughlin, of Cambuslang CID, said: “We’ve conducted door-to-door and CCTV enquiries but we’re also appealing for any witnesses to come forward.

“If anyone has any information about this incident or saw anyone fitting the description of the suspects shortly before or after, please contact us.”
