Man rushed to hospital after being slashed in serious assault in Hamilton

A man has been rushed to hospital after being slashed during a serious assault in Hamilton .

Emergency services were called to the Burnbank area of the Lanarkshire town at around 1.40pm on Wednesday.

Police officers discovered the injured 30-year-old man on Milton Street before he was taken to Hairmyres Hospital.

The man was then transferred to Monklands Hospital where he is being treated for slash wounds.

A spokesperson for Police Scotland said that it is unclear what caused the severe lacerations inflicted on the victim.

Detective Constable Christine McLanachan of Cambuslang Police Station said: “Our enquiries are ongoing to establish the exact location in the Burnbank area where this assault took place.

“I am appealing to anyone who witnessed it, or who has any information that will help our investigation to contact Cambuslang Police Station through 101, quoting reference number 1678 of September 25. Alternatively Crimestoppers can be contacted on 0800 555 111, where anonymity can be maintained.”
