Man rushed to hospital after being seriously assaulted in Hurlford flat

A section of a street in Hurlford was closed off this morning after a man was seriously assaulted in a flat.

Police tape was put up within Morris Crescent in the village and officers patrolled the area following the incident.

A source at the scene told the Kilmarnock Standard : “The place was crawling with police earlier. It was like they had officers looking for a weapon or something.

“I saw the ambulance turn up and take a guy away. It looked like he was bleeding, as if he had been stabbed or something, and he was taken out the house and left in the ambulance with his mum.”

Another source told how they were “trapped” inside their house as they weren’t able to leave as the police cordon surrounded their property. An appeal for witnesses has now been issued by police.

A Police Scotland spokesperson confirmed: “At around 10.45am on Monday, April 29, police were called to Morris Crescent following a report of a 38-year-old man being seriously assaulted within a property.

“Emergency services attended and the man was taken to Crosshouse Hospital.

“Inquiries are ongoing and anyone with any information is urged to call police on 101 quoting incident number 1184 of Monday, April 29.”
