Man rushed to hospital after being rescued from 'embankment' at Auldhouse Burn

A man has been rushed to hospital after being rescued from Auldhouse Burn early this morning.

Firefighters were called in help get the man, believed to be on an embankment under the bridge at Auldhouse Park, after water levels rose due to heavy rainfall.

Around 60 emergency service workers were on the scene for several hours after the alarm was raised around 3.40am on Saturday, August 7.

The man was hoisted from the embankment and taken on a stretcher for treatment.

Witnesses reported that the river was around 20ft below the level of the bridge.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “We were made aware of concern for a man in difficulty close to the Auldhouse Burn at Auldhouse Park in Glasgow shortly after 3.40am on Saturday, 7 August.

“The man was recovered with the assistance of the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service and Scottish Ambulance Service before being taken to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital for treatment.”
