Man rushed to hospital after being rescued from crash on busy Salford road

A man in his 40s has been taken to hospital after being rescued from a crash on a major road near Salford Quays.

Emergency services rushed to Trafford Road, near the junction with Phoebe Street in Ordsall, following a crash at around 2.30pm this afternoon (June 17).

Police, firefighters and paramedics all attended the scene, where three vehicles had been involved in the collision.

Fire crews worked with North West Ambulance Service (NWAS) to release the man from one of the vehicles, before he was taken to hospital for treatment by ambulance.

A woman also received treatment at the scene for minor injuries.

A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Police said: "Officers were called to Trafford Road, Salford, at 2.35pm on June 17, 2021 to reports of an RTC [road traffic collision].

"Three vehicles were involved and NWAS and Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service (GMFRS) were also at the scene.

"One man was freed from his vehicle and taken to hospital where his injuries are unknown."

An image from the scene shows that traffic was stopped on the northbound side of the road approaching the collision, while emergency services carried out their work.

A spokesperson for GMFRS said: “At approximately 2.45pm on Thursday (June 17) two fire engines from Salford fire station, alongside the Technical Response Unit from Leigh, attended a road traffic collision on Trafford Road, in Salford.

“The collision involved three vehicles. Fire service personal assisted colleagues from NWAS with extracting one casualty from one of the vehicles. Firefighters were in attendance for 40 minutes.”

An NWAS spokesperson added: "A man in his 40s has taken to hospital and a woman was treated at the scene for minor injuries."
