Man rushed to hospital after being knocked down by car during 'dispute' in Co Cork

A man was rushed to hospital after he was knocked down by a car during a dispute in Co Cork.

Gardai investigating the incident have arrested a man in his 20s.

The collision happened at around 1.30pm today in Whitegate Village in East Cork, Cork Beo reports.

The male pedestrian, who is in his 30s, was brought to Cork University Hospital.

The arrested man is currently detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984 at Cobh Garda Station.

A garda spokesman said: "Gardaí are investigating a suspected endangerment incident in Whitegate Village in East Cork. The incident occurred shortly after 1.30pm today.

"It’s understood a man in his 30s was struck by a vehicle during a dispute involving a second male.

"The injured man was taken by ambulance to CUH, his injuries are not thought to be life threatening.

"A man in his 20s has since been arrested by Gardaí and is currently detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984 at Cobh Garda Station. Enquiries are ongoing."
