Man rushed to hospital after being injured while working as Maryhill suffers power cut

A worker has been rushed to hospital after an incident as Maryhill homes faced a power cut this afternoon.

Police, fire service and paramedics raced to the scene near the Glasgow North Trading Estate after the man was hurt on an industrial estate on Shawpark Street at around 12:30pm.

The outage affected hundreds of homes across the G20 postcode. Power has now been restored.

A spokesman for Police Scotland said: "Police Scotland attended at Shawpark Road in Glasgow around 12.30pm on Thursday, 14 November following a report of a man having suffered an injury while working in the area.

"The man has been taken to hospital for treatment. The Health and Safety Executive has been made aware."

A Scottish Fire and Rescue Service spokesman said: “We were requested at 12.29pm on Thursday, November 14 to assist emergency partners at Shawpark Street in Maryhill, Glasgow.

“Operations Control mobilised two fire appliances to the scene, where crews assisted in making the area safe. They left at 1.45pm.”
