Man rushed to hospital after being hit by car in horror crash near Scots school

Police and ambulance are at the scene of a 'road crash' in Edinburgh after a man was hit by a car.

Emergency crews were called to Parkgrove Street at Queensferry Road at around 5.25pm on Thursday.

Shocking images show part of the windscreen smashed on a blue car at the scene.

Several police officers can be seen patrolling the area, as well as two cop cars.

Traffic appears to be building along Parkgrove Street.

The crash took place near Clermiston Primary School and the victim was rushed to hospital.

The exact circumstances surrounding the incident have not yet been disclosed by police.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Around 5.25pm on Thursday, 3 June, police were called to a report of a male pedestrian struck by a car on Parkgrove Street at Queensferry Road.

"Emergency services attended and the man was taken by ambulance to the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh for treatment. Parkgrove Street is closed with diversions in place. Enquiries are continuing."
