Man rushed to hospital after being hit by bin lorry in Cumbernauld

A man has been rushed to hospital after being hit by a bin lorry on a Scots road.

The 58-year-old was struck by the vehicle on the Main Road area of Condorrat, Cumbernauld at around 12.10pm on Friday, May 20.

He was rushed to Queen Elizabeth University Hospital for treatment. His injuries are believed to be serious but not life-threatening.

The Health and Safety Executive have been made aware of the incident and police enquiries into the collision remain ongoing.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 12.10pm on Friday, 20 May, 2022, police were called to the Main Road area of Condorrat, Cumbernauld, following a report of a road crash involving a bin lorry and a 58-year-old man.

"The man was taken to Queen Elizabeth University Hospital for treatment and his injuries are believed to be serious, but not life-threatening.

"The Health and Safety Executive has been made aware and enquiries into the incident remain ongoing.”
