Man rushed to hospital after attempted murder in Edinburgh

A man has been rushed to hospital after an attempted murder in Edinburgh.

Officers were called to Ravenscroft Street in the Gilmerton area at 1.45am on Saturday, 12 September after reports of a serious incident.

A 55-year-old man was discovered in the doorway of his home.

He suffered serious injuries and was taken to Edinburgh Royal Infirmary for treatment.

He remains in a stable condition.

Police are treating the attack as attempted murder.

Detective Sergeant Steven Gray of Gayfield CID said: “Extensive enquiries are ongoing into the attempted murder and officers are currently carrying out enquiries in the local area, and checking CCTV footage to gather more information. 

“I would urge anyone who may have been in the area around the time of the incident and saw anything suspicious to contact us as soon as possible. 

“This is believed to have been an isolated incident and there is no wider threat to the general public.” Anyone with information should contact police on 101, quoting reference number 0385 of Saturday, 12 September.
