Man rushed to Glasgow hospital after car crash as St Vincent Street shut down

A man was taken to hospital for treatment following a crash involving two vehicles in Glasgow city centre.

The collision took place on Newton Street next to the M8 along from Charing Cross station around 5:10pm yesterday evening (January 2), and sparked a large emergency response.

Pictures from the scene showed a heavy police, fire and ambulance presence at the scene of the smash outside the Scottish Power HQ building on St Vincent Street - which was closed-off to traffic for around 50 minutes as a result of the incident.

Police have since confirmed that a man was taken to Glasgow's Royal Infirmary for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.
