Man rushed to Edinburgh hospital after suffering 'serious assault' in broad daylight

A man is being treated for serious injuries after being assaulted in broad daylight in Midlothian this week.

Police in the area have launched an appeal for information after the 45-year-old was attacked in Bonnyrigg on Thursday (October 14.)

According to officers, the man was rushed to hospital at around 3.20pm, with the assault taking place near the junction of Hawthornden Gardens and Eskdaill Drive.

The victim was then treated at the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh after the broad daylight attack.

Speaking on Sunday, Police Scotland appealed to anyone in the area who may have witnessed the assault to get in touch as soon as possible.

Detective Constable Jack Wall said: “We’re appealing to anyone who was in the area on Thursday afternoon and witnessed the assault, or any suspicious activity, to please come forward.

“If you have any information which could assist our investigation, please call 101, quoting incident 1955 of 14 October.

"Alternatively, you can contact Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111, if you wish to remain anonymous.”
