Man runs into Wetherspoon pub after being slashed in face

A man ran into a Wetherspoon pub looking for help after being slashed in the face in a park.

Police were called to the Navigator pub, on Queen's Drive, after reports a man had a slash wound to his face.

The victim ran for help at around 7.30pm, on Monday, January 31, after being attacked in Springfield Park.

He claims he was involved in an attack by a group of men before making off from the park into the Navigator, in Old Swan.

Emergency services attended and the man was taken to hospital to receive treatment for his injuries.

His injuries are not life threatening and he has since been discharged from hospital.

Anyone with information is being urged to contact police, as officers carry out CCTV, witness and forensic enquiries.

Detective Inspector Gavin Mulcahy said: "We are working to establish the full circumstances of a nasty assault that took place yesterday which left a man injured, fortunately not more seriously.

"Knife crime can have devastating consequences in our communities and we are determined to find those responsible for this attack.


"If you were in the area in and around Springfield Park last night and saw anything or anyone suspicious then please come forward.

"Similarly if you were driving on Queens Drive or East Prescot Road in Old Swan and have dashcam footage then please review it and let us know if you see anything.

"All information you provide will be acted upon to remove dangerous weapons and those who use them from our streets."
