
A man is accused of arranging to meet with someone through a dating application and then robbing them at gunpoint in northwest suburban Elgin.
Dashaun Harvest, 20, is charged with one count of armed robbery with a firearm and one count of aggravated robbery armed with a firearm, according to the Kane County state’s attorney’s office.
Prosecutors allege that Harvest arranged to meet with someone sometime after 1 a.m. on Jan 12. in Elgin after talking with them through an online dating app.
When the other person showed up, Harvest allegedly pointed a gun at them and demanded money, prosecutors said. The person gave Harvest $50 and he took off.
Harvest is being held at the Kane County Jail on $200,000 bail. His next court date was set for Thursday.
