Man robs Evanston bank

Police and federal agents responded to a bank robbery in Evanston on Thursday, June 20, 2019.

A man implied he had a weapon while robbing a bank Thursday in north suburban Evanston.

He walked into a Wells Fargo Bank branch in the 2200 block of Howard Street about 10:30 p.m. and handed a note to two tellers, Evanston police said in a statement.

The note demanded money and said the man was armed, police said. No weapon was seen or displayed.

The man was handed cash and last seen going westbound on foot toward McCormick Avenue, police said. No injuries were reported.

Evanston police are investigating the robbery with the FBI.

The suspect was between 5-foot-4 and 5-foot-7, slim built, and wearing a black Nike hat and a blue shirt over a red shirt, police said.

Anyone with tips is asked to call Evanston detectives at 847-866-5040.
