The man's mobile phone was also stolen, police said.

Two boys aged 12 and 14 were arrested on Lower Lane a short time later, and both remain in custody for questioning.

Police are appealing for people who might have dashcam or CCTV footage following the incident to come forward.

Detective Inspector Paul Gillies said: “This was an appalling incident for the victim to have experienced and thankfully he wasn’t injured during the robbery.

“While two arrests have been made, we’re still keen to speak to anyone who saw the incident or captured anything on CCTV, dashcam or other devices as we continue to investigate.”
