Man robbed and stabbed near Weston-super-Mare supermarket

A man was stabbed when he was robbed in an underpass near a supermarket in Weston-super-Mare.

The man was walking through the underpass at Summer Lane, close to the Morrisons supermarket on Monday, March 8 at around 10.10pm when he was attacked by another man.

The victim, a man in his 50’s, was stabbed.

He was taken to hospital for treatment and his injuries are not thought to be life threatening.

A 19 year-old man has been arrested in connection with the incident.

A spokesman for Avon and Somerset Police said: “Police attended a report of a robbery which took place in an underpass close to Morrison’s supermarket, Summer Lane, on Monday 8 March at about 10.10pm.

“A man in his 50s was found to have been wounded with a blade.

“He was taken to hospital where he continues to receive treatment for his injuries, which are not thought to be life threatening.

“A 19-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the incident and released under investigation.

“Enquiries are ongoing and anyone with information that could assist officers with their investigation should call 101 quoting crime reference number 5221050015.”
