Man riding motorbike dies following horror crash on A34 in Wilmslow

A man riding a motorbike has died following a crash on the A34 in Wilmslow.

Emergency services were called to Pendleton Way just before 7.30pm on Friday.

The stretch was closed in both directions while police and ambulance attended.

A spokesman for Cheshire Police confirmed a 62-year-old man suffered serious injuries after colliding with the central reservation and coming off his bike.

He was travelling towards Manchester at the time of the smash.

The man, from Wilmslow, was airlifted to Manchester Royal Infirmary, but tragically later died.

His family is being supported by specially-trained officers.

Pendleton Way, between the Merlin pub roundabout in Alderley Edge and Wilmslow High School,was closed into the early hours while investigation work was carried out.

Police are appealing for witnesses, or anyone with information - or dash cam footage - to come forward.
