Man reveals unusual stomach and nose symptoms before testing positive for Covid

A nightclub DJ has revealed a bizarre symptom which led him to get tested for Covid-19 before his antigen test "lit up like a Christmas tree."

Sean Daly, 47, was due to visit his parents in Dublin, Ireland but had a weird feeling in his stomach which caused him to take an antigen test before leaving.

He said "within 30 seconds" his test "lit up like a Christmas tree," revealing that he was infected with Covid. Sean is now reminding people of their "responsibility" concerning the virus.

He told Dublin Live: “We’ve air conditioning in work and I’d suffer from nasal problems, like a blocked nose especially at this time of year.

"Two weeks ago I’d a nasal condition and I took a test, it came up clear. I took my usual remedies, the Lemsip and Uniflu medication and it cleared in a few days.

“But coming up to last week, I was going to stay with my Mum and Dad and I just didn’t feel right. The nightclub was closed and I’d no common symptoms like the loss of taste or smell, or the runny nose, but I had an upset stomach.

“I took a test just to see if there’s Covid in my system before visiting my parents who are double vaxxed, they have the protection but to be on the safe side and it lit up like a Christmas tree straight away, the two red lines showed in about 30 seconds. I went on the HSE website and booked a test which also came back positive.

“There were no other symptoms apart from my tummy being ropey but I took it as something I ate beforehand. If I didn’t have that symptom I would’ve visited my parents in Dublin.”

Mr Daly spoke about personal responsibility and how it prevented him from giving the virus to his parents.

He said: “I think we all know our own bodies at this stage and there was something telling me, with the high cases and because I work in the hospitality sector, I took it upon myself to take the test. I wouldn’t want to be responsible for spreading the virus, especially at this time of year.

“My Dad is 79 this year, he carries a bag full of medication for every part of his body at this stage, his heart, blood pressure, eyes and so on.

"The last thing I want to be doing is putting him in a dangerous position.

“Personal responsibility is really important, I think every little thing we can use in a battle, if you have it available to you, you use it, you don’t ignore it.

“If there’s something I can do about it I’ll do it, the antigen test gave me notice.”
