A man returned to his home to find a dead woman in his bed.
The Corpus Christi, Texas resident - who has not been named - made the surprising discovery having spent several weeks away, he told police.
The homeowner went into his house, walked into the bedroom and found the body in his bed.
He then left the apartment and called the police, reported KZTV.
Medical examiners have yet to determine a cause of the death.
It's also unclear when the medical examiner is expected to finish the autopsy and whether those findings will be made public.
Corpus Christi Police said it's too early to tell if foul play is involved or if the woman died of natural causes.
Earlier this week another body was found not far from Corpus Christi in Houston.
A homeowner discovered a man's corpse in a ditch after his dog would not stop barking.
He had eventually gone outside after the hound continued making noise for ten minutes straight.
When he did the man found a body lying face down, partially submerged in the ditch water.
Houston Police Department Lieutenant R. Willkens said it was not clear if any foul play was involved, as is the case with the Corpus Christi death.
"Other than the strange position of the body and the location, we're not seeing any major signs of foul play right now," he said.
"We don't have any phone calls, we don't have any blood right now."
