Man rescued from roof of building and taken to hospital

A man has been detained under The Mental Health Act after being rescued from the roof of a building.

Police were called at 8.30pm last night (October 17) after concerns for the safety of a man on the roof of a building on Park Street in the L8 area.

Patrols attended and the man was detained under The Mental Health Act and taken to hospital.

Merseyside Fire and Rescue attended the scene with members of the search and rescue division.

A spokesperson for Merseyside Fire and Rescue said: "Crews were alerted at 8.39pm and arrived on scene at 8.44pm.

"Three fire engines attended the scene and an aerial appliance was used."

Crews left the scene just before 10.30pm.
