Emergency services were called to King's Parade after reports of concern for safety of a man.
At around 7am today police received a report of a concern for safety of a man in the River Mersey, near the Royal Albert Dock. Police, Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service, the Coastguard and North West Ambulance Service attended and the man was rescued.
Pictures of the scene show a cordon guarded by officers, multiple fire service vehicles and police cars. Bus routes were also diverted, including the 4/4A route, which was unable to serve the waterfront or Albert Dock and was diverted to Queens Wharf, Wapping and the Strand.

A spokesperson for Merseyside Police said: "Emergency Services are in attendance in the King’s Parade area this morning, Thursday, March 31. At around 7am we received a report of a concern for safety of a man in the River Mersey, near the Royal Albert Dock.
"Police, Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service, the Coastguard and North West Ambulance Service attended and the man was brought to safety. He will be taken to hospital to be assessed."
