Man rescued from River Clyde as emergency services rush to scene

A man has been rescued from the water after jumping into the River Clyde in Glasgow.

Emergency services rushed to the scene of the incident after being called to reports of a person jumping into the water near the Kingston Bridge around 7pm this evening.

Police, ambulance services and fire crews were present on both sides of the river and a police helicopter was also seen circling the area.

Officers say the man will be taken to hospital for assessment. His condition is unknown at this stage.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "About 7pm on Saturday 27th April, we received a report of man having jumped from the Kingston Bridge into the River Clyde in Glasgow.

"A multi-agency response was initiated involving the police, fire and rescue, ambulance and coast guard services.

"The man was rescued from the river by the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service and will be taken to hospital for assessment."
