Man rescued from bridge in Salford following reports of emergency service presence

A man was rescued from a bridge in Salford earlier this morning.

Emergency services were called to Woden Street, Salford, following a report of a man on the bridge today (June 13).

Eyewitnesses reported seeing police and fire crews near to the Downtown flats.

Officers from Greater Manchester Police and fire crews were at the scene from 3am to 9.40am.

The man was helped down and is now in the care of the North West Ambulance Service.

A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service said: "We supported colleagues from Greater Manchester Police with the rescue of a person.

"We were there from 3am to 9.40am.

"There was one fire engine, both water incident units and the technical response unit.

"The man is now in the care of the North West Ambulance Service."

GMP have been approached for comment.
