Man rescued by firefighters after getting his hand trapped - in a bird feeder

Firefighters have to cut apart a bird feeder after a man got his hand trapped.

A fire crew from Farringdon station were called to help the man who was stuck in the feeder on Wraith Terrace, in Ryhope, Sunderland.

The man's hand had become stuck on a metal bar of the feeder and he had been unable to free himself.

The firefighters arrived at around 11.15am on Saturday and used pedal cutters to cut into the feeder and free the man's hand.

An ambulance was also called to the scene but it is not known if the man required any medical treatment.

Firefighters left the scene by 11.50am.
