The incident occurred at Garretstown, Kinsale around 5pm this afternoon, when the man got trapped at the base of the cliffs.

"Gardaí , Coast Guard, Courtmacsherry life boat and local Cliff Rescue assisted in the rescue of a man (70s) after he became trapped by the tide at the bottom of the cliff face at Garretstown, Kinsale," gardai confirmed to Cork Beo.

"The alarm was raised shortly before 5pm when the man became trapped while attempting to rescue his dog who had fallen from the cliff. The man was brought to safety unharmed.
