A man was rescued by firefighters from a ledge after slipping down the side of a mountain.

The incident happened on a mountain where a landslip had occurred in February which was caused by rainfall from Storm Dennis.

Fire crews and paramedics were called to the scene in Tylorstown, Rhondda, at 2.18pm today (Sunday May 31) after receiving reports that a person had slid down the mountain.

South Wales Fire and Rescue said they were told somebody had gone down the embankment and they were able rescue the man from a ledge.

The Welsh Ambulance Service said the man was taken to Royal Glamorgan Hospital in Llantrisant but that there were no serious injuries.

Those who witnessed the rescue said the man "slipped down on his bottom" and that the fire service had to climb above him and attached a rope to a tree as part of the rescue.
