A man had to be rescued after becoming trapped in sticky clay on a County Durham beach.
Firefighters were called to Seaham beach, near Seaham Hall, following reports that a man was stuck and couldn't be freed.
County Durham and Darlington Fire and Rescue sent one appliance from Seaham to the unusual incident on Saturday.
A spokeswoman for the service said: "The man was rescued quickly after becoming stuck in silt and clay.
"They used casualty straps, a spade and rescue line to pull him out.
"It was done and dusted pretty quickly."
Thankfully, the man was not injured and paramedics were not called to the scene.
