Man reports 'black puma' sighting near busy motorway

A man travelling on the M6 has reported a 'black puma' sighting.

The witness, called Phil, told Puma Watch that he saw the black cat in a field as he was travelling on the motorway, where the M6 meets the M56 and A50.

He claims the sighting occurred at around 4pm on Saturday, October 23 and he thinks it was stalking sheep, Cheshire Live reports.

Phil said: “I came off the junction at the M6 Lymm – I was heading North at the time.

“On my left-hand side, in a field, I saw a large black cat lay on its stomach, in the way cats do when they’re waiting to pounce on something.

“I suspect it was interested in the sheep.

“It had a long black tail. Definitely bigger than a normal cat.”

Puma Watch has reported other big cat sightings on this stretch of motorway, including behind Costco in Chester in May this year, and near Chester services at Elton in June.

Big cat sightings have also been reported near the motorway in Frodsham, with CCTV footage catching a mysterious creature running 50 metres in seconds in April this year.

Early February 2021, Puma Watch also reported that a panther was spotted along the Manchester Ship Canal in Warrington.
