Man 'repeatedly stabbed in head' in Glasgow street as locals compare area to 'warzone'

A man has reportedly been 'stabbed in the head multiple times' as violence took hold on a Glasgow street.

Emergency services were scrambled to Milton in North Glasgow on Sunday afternoon after the man was discovered injured on Skerray Street at around 2.10pm.

He was rushed to hospital by ambulance crews and his condition remains unknown. Police have now launched an investigation into the shock incident and enquiries are ongoing.

Shocked locals told the Daily Record how a man had been repeatedly stabbed in the head as their street was turned into ‘a warzone’.

In another incident just hours later, a van was deliberately set on fire on a nearby street.

Detectives were forced to scramble to the blaze on nearby Longay Street at 8.36pm as it ripped through the parked Highway Maintenance vehicle.

One local said: “A man was stabbed in the head multiple times after something kicked off near the chippy.

“Police put up tape and have been there ever since, it is really scary how that can happen so close to home.”

A second local said: “My street has been turned into a warzone between the stabbing and the fire, I can’t believe it.

“A man has been really badly injured from the attack. It was brutal.

"The damage from the fire is still there and it is making the full area stink of smoke."

A third local said: “I heard huge bangs and thought fireworks were going off until I realised it was a van on fire.

“It was really loud and when I saw the flames I was really scared.

A fourth local said: “I think someone chucked something at the van to set it on fire then ran away.

“A neighbour had to run to the police at the cordon where the man was stabbed to tell them van was on fire round the corner.

“It was really shocking, I don’t know if the two incidents are linked but it was just one thing after another.”

Officers say there is currently no suggestion the two incidents are linked.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Police were called around 2.10pm on Sunday, 9 January, 2022 following the report of a man found injured on Skerray Street, Glasgow.

"Emergency services attended and a man was taken to hospital for treatment of injuries.

"Enquiries are currently ongoing."

An SFRS spokesperson said: “We received a report of a fire at 8.36pm on Longay Street, Glasgow.

"One appliance is currently in attendance."
