Man repeatedly punched in face while enjoying night out with family

A man was repeatedly punched in the face and stomach on a night out in Woolton.

The 46-year-old victim was enjoying a night out with friends in family, in Loft on Allerton Road, when he was attacked. He was in the smoking shelter outside the venue when a man punched him in the stomach and walked away, at around 1.20am on Sunday, May 29.

Officers say the suspect then returned to the shelter and repeatedly punched him to the face and torso, before leaving the bar and heading towards Menlove Avenue. The victim was left with serious face injuries after the assault.

He was treated in hospital for his injuries but has now been discharged and is recovering back home. Merseyside police have now released an image of a man they would like to speak to in connection with the incident.

They believe the man pictured will be able to help the investigation. DI Jennie Beck said: "This was a violent attack on a man who was just enjoying a night out with friends and family in Liverpool. No one should have to go through such a shocking attack when they are out in their hometown.
