Terrifying footage shows officer PC Gareth Phillips being knocked down by a stolen police car leaving him fighting for life.
The horrific moment has been shared by police after the driver Mubashar Hussain was jailed for 12 years.
On August 10, Hussain, 29, fled the scene at speeds of more than 97 miles per hour, with aerial footage, recorded by a West Midlands Police helicopter, showing him dangerously weaving through traffic.
Dashcam footage taken from inside the stolen police car captured the high speeds he recklessly drove at while he attempted to evade police.
He also sped the wrong way across a roundabout, narrowly avoiding a high-speed collision.
Birmingham Crown Court was told on Tuesday, October 15, Hussain was wearing a balaclava when he reversed the car away from a police car, while his accomplice Ahsan Ghafoor threw a house brick.
Several unmarked and marked patrol cars arrived at the scene after the stolen Range Rover was seen driving dangerously, in convoy with another vehicle stolen from a furniture store car park.
Mr Smith said Hussain "remained resistant even when a Taser device was used against him. In fact he tried to remove the barbs of the fired Taser from his skin."
Ghafoor was handcuffed and pinned to the ground near the stolen Range Rover as Hussain emerged from the driver's door, and then struggled.
Mr Smith said he was "determined to use his physical strength to resist the police officers".
He was described by police "as looking in a rage and fired up. He reached the unmarked police car behind the Range Rover, despite being Tasered once more."
The police car, which was left with its engine running due to the fast nature of events, began to reverse.
Hussain has four previous convictions for dangerous driving and had previously been jailed for theft of cars and conspiring to steal motor vehicles.
The court heard he had been stopped in a stolen Range Rover Evoque in Moseley, Birmingham, at around 4:45pm, on August 10.
Despite a Taser being deployed, he resisted and fled into the police BMW, before knocking down PC Phillips, who suffered a shattered pelvis.
He dumped the car in Sparkbrook, where he was arrested. He was jailed after pleading guilty to causing grievous bodily harm to PC Phillips and intent to resist arrest.
Judge Mark Wall told him: "You crashed into the police car. You could not drive away because you were physically stuck. You used your strength to get into the driver's seat of the police car.
"The police followed you and you reversed that car at speed. They were holding on both sides of the car. You then drove forward crushing PC Phillips' pelvic area with first your front, then rear wheel."
The judge added that he was a "habitual dangerous driver."
Ghafoor, 24, of Fulham Road, Sparkhill, was jailed for 28 months after admitting two counts of car theft and three driving offences including dangerous driving, having no insurance and driving other than in accordance with a licence.
